and into an Amazonian riverscape

A peccary, and wild boar with brindle stripes
sniffed my ankles

Red balloons fell from the sky
filled with blood

I left as easily as I had come
swimming upstream

and slipped back through the water door.
This is the kind of dream

that stays with me, and I wake up
tired, knowing I traveled far
